Natural stone facing provides a traditional and attractive finish to
a new building. The materials used and the completed look of the stonework
depends upon location and client preference, however there may well
also be a local authority planning aspect to the type and appearance
of the stonework.
The pictures above show limestone facing with & without pointing.
Leaving out the pointing gives a “dry stone” effect but
with no loss of strength or water intrusion. Different types of stone
can be used to give a variety of pleasing colours and effects while
providing first class weather proofing.
Weathered blue slate has been used here to give a rustic edge to a
modern building- in this case a new school. Again the back edge of the
stones are mortared in giving a dry stone look.
